Obituary

Mary Ann Carlson, the daughter of Virgil and Grace (Van Epps) Lewellen was born October 3, 1933 at Madison, Arkansas. She passed away suddenly on Friday, August 5, 2016 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 2 days.
Mary Ann and family moved to Carson, and then the Villisca area, where she attended school. In 1951, Mary Ann was united in marriage to Norbert Wilson at Red Oak, and to this union four sons were born: Robert, Ray, Mark and Larry. Mary Ann was a hard worker, helping on their farm and working at Union Carbide Battery Company. She later worked for the Thos. D. Murphy Calendar Company, Donut Shop, Johnny's Steak House and Red Oak Good Samaritan Society, before retiring in 1990. On August 23, 1991, Mary Ann was united in marriage to Darrell L. Carlson at Plattsmouth, Nebraska. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and reading books. Mary Ann was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Montgomery County Historical Society in Red Oak.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: James Lewellen and John Lewellen; and sister, Myra McMullen.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Darrell L. Carlson of Red Oak, IA; sons: Robert Wilson of Des Moines, IA, Ray (Billie) Wilson of Griswold, IA, Mark Wilson of Elliott, IA and Larry (Lynn) Wilson of Omaha, NE; step-sons: Gregory (Anne) Carlson of Des Moines, IA and Kerry (Elaine) Carlson of Red Oak, IA; 6 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Grace Lewellen of Omaha, NE, LaDonna (James) Raney of Villisca, IA, Marcia (Bob) Sierp of Onalaska, WI, William (Carol Ann) Carlson of Clarinda, IA, Roger (Mary Jo) Carlson of Marion, IA and Daniel Carlson of Clarinda, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Celebration of Life Service will be held
Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 10:30 a.m.
At Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home
Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Memorials to the Red Oak Good Samaritan Society or First United Methodist Church.
