Obituary

Mary Ann Magneson, the daughter of Ragnar and Edith Holmberg Farnum was born September 6, 1927 in Red Oak, Iowa. She passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 85 years and 12 days. Mary Ann was raised in Red Oak. She graduated from Red Oak High School in l946. Mary Ann was united in marriage to Delano I. Magneson on October 3, 1947 in Wallin, Iowa. They lived in Red Oak until 1951, when they then made Council Bluffs, Iowa their home. Mary Ann worked at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs for 20 years. In 1988, Mary Ann and Delano moved back to Red Oak. She enjoyed making crafts and was a volunteer at the Children's Home in Council Bluffs. Mary Ann was a member of V.F.W. Auxiliary. She cherished her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Mary Ann had been a resident of Stanton Care Center since l998. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert Farnum. Mary Ann is survived by her two children: Judy Jarrett-Duvall and husband Bob of Independence, MO; and Stephen Magneson and wife Mary of Fredericksburg, VA; three grandchildren: Amy Jarrett of Alamo, CA; T.R. Jarrett and wife Angie of Kearney, MO; and Stephen C. Magneson Jr. and fiancée Cassandra Burdyshaw of Fredericksburg, VA; six great-grandchildren: Isabella, Olivia, Tatum, Tommy, Tyler and Travis; brother, Ronald Farnum and wife Jannette of Red Oak, IA; sisters-in-law: Shirley Farnum of Red Oak, IA; Dorothy Johnson and husband Quentin of Emerson, IA; Karen Johnson of Bolivar, MO; and Mildred Magneson of Red Oak, IA: nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Funeral Service will be held Monday, September 24, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak Rev. Dr. Eric Kutzli, Officiating Viewing on Sunday, September 23 beginning at 11:30 a.m. with the family present to receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home Memorials to the American Diabetes Association. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
