August 2, 1932 – July 17, 2021
Mary Ann Vanderholm, the daughter of George and Anna (Cagley) Gerberding was born August 2, 1932, in Page County, Iowa. She passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa, the age of 88 years, 11 months and 15 days.
Mary Ann completed 12 years of school at College Springs Consolidated School and then attended 2 years at Clarinda Junior College, Clarinda, Iowa. On September 24, 1954, Mary Ann was united in marriage to Robert Vanderholm in Clarinda. They made their home on a farm 4 miles north of Bethesda, until 1997, when they moved into Stanton. Mary Ann was an active member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church having served as a Sunday school teacher, Bible school teacher, choir member and a WELCA officer. Mary Ann was a Kindergartner teacher in Clarinda for 4 years and later, a paraprofessional for the Stanton elementary school for 15 years. She always loved working with children and was affectionately known as Mrs. V by many school kids. While living in Stanton, Mary Ann was involved with the Senior Center's many community activities, for which she was honored by receiving the Ole Award. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Robert on September 12, 1997.
Mary Ann is survived by her children: Chris (Christie) Vanderholm of Stanton, IA, Paul Vanderholm of Stanton, IA and Jean (Johnnie) Johnson of Milford, KS; 8 grandchildren: Amanda (Ed) Banda, Emily (Jon) Winter, Anna Johnson, Cara Vanderholm and fiancé Brent Garretson, Cody Vanderholm, and Heidi, Jody and April Vanderholm; 4 great-grandchildren: Delilah, Mae and Pippa Winter and Isaiah Alfred; sister-in-law, Donna Anderson of Lincoln, NE; and brother-in-law, Dale (Margaret) Vanderholm of Castle Rock, CO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service will be held
Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.
At the Bethesda Lutheran Church, rural Clarinda, IA
Burial in the Bethesda Cemetery
Visitation with the family will be held Friday evening, July 23, 2021, at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Memorials may be directed to the Bethesda Lutheran Church Music Fund, Stanton Historical Society or Stanton Fire & Rescue.
