Obituary

Maxine LaVon Crouse, the daughter of Jesse W. and Fern E. (Swanson) Stanbrough was born December 28, 1935 in Page County, Iowa. She passed away at the age of 82, on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa.

Maxine was raised in the Essex, Iowa area, attended country school for 8 years and in 1954, graduated from Essex High School. Following graduation, she worked at the Northwestern Bell Telephone office in Shenandoah, Iowa. Maxine was united in marriage to Robert L. Crouse on August 29, 1954 in Essex. To this union they were blessed with four children: Rhonda, Brent, Angela and Dan. Maxine and Bob had lived in Corning, Ottumwa and Essex before making their home in Red Oak in January of 1965. Maxine was a long time and faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She volunteered in many community activities, including the Red Oak Optimist Club, Senior Citizens Center and was a past member of Beta Sigma Phi. After Bob's retirement, they enjoyed many years wintering in Texas.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob on January 5, 2017; daughter, Rhonda Mannasmith on September 19, 2017; granddaughter, Elizabeth "Libby" Hill; brother, Gerald Stanbrough; and sister, Elaine Woodyard.

Maxine is survived by three children: Brent Crouse of Ft. Collins, CO; Angela Hill and husband Christopher of Clarinda, IA; and Dan Crouse and wife Karen of Red Oak, IA; son-in-law, Larry Mannasmith of Maryville, MO; 9 grandchildren: Vanessa (Tye) Parsons of Maryville, MO; Hilary (Ian) Simmons of Omaha, NE; Jason Crouse of Council Bluffs, IA; Mariah Crouse of Council Bluffs, IA; Kip Hill of Spokane, WA; Cameron (Jessica) Hill of Lee's Summit, MO; SueAnn Crouse, Michael Crouse and his fiancée Amanda Stitz and Nicholas Crouse all of Red Oak, IA; 6 great-grandchildren: Lucy, Ellie, Cora, Kyler, Avery and Aubrey; brother, Robert (Bernadette) Stanbrough of Essex, IA; sisters: Donna Currie of Shenandoah, IA; Beverly (Luke) McGargill of Shenandoah, IA and Karen (Bob) Ahrens of Shenandoah, IA; and brother-in-law, Larry Crouse of Norcross, GA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn.

Maxine has donated her body for medical research, even in death she continues to help others.

Visitation with the family will be held Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Red Oak from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Celebration of Life Service will be

Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 3:00 p.m.
