Merlin Lee Platt, the son of Ray and Margaret (Longinaker) Platt was born September 8, 1958, at Red Oak, Iowa. He passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa, at the age of 64 years, 8 months and 16 days.

Merlin lived his entire life in Red Oak. He graduated from Red Oak High School with the class of 1976, and then attended Buena Vista College at Storm Lake, Iowa, and Iowa Western Community College at Clarinda, Iowa. He worked 15 years for McDonald's and later at CDS. Merlin was a kind person and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Merlin was preceded in death by parents, brother, Clarence Dean Platt, and sister, Jolene Johnson.

Merlin is survived by his sister, Sharon (LeRoy) Malousek of Aurora, NE and brother, Michael "Mickey" Platt of Red Oak, IA; and brother-in-law, Allan Johnson of Stanton, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m.
