Obituary

Michael Shane Adkisson, age 38 of Emerson, Iowa Michael Shane Adkisson, the son of Richard D. and Cindy L. Hansen Adkisson, was born July 27, 1970 in Monmouth, Illinois. He passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2009 west of Red Oak in Montgomery County, Iowa at the age of 38 years, 9 months, 26 days. Shane lived in Illinois until the age of eight, when the family moved to New Market, Iowa. In 1982, they moved to Red Oak. Shane attended Red Oak High School and graduated from Denison Job Corps. While attending Denison Job Corps, Shane met Tammy Read. Shane and Tammy were married on February 16, 1990 in Red Oak. For the past eight years, Shane worked in the concrete business for Echternach Construction. He loved his daughters dearly and the time spent fishing with them. Shane enjoyed all sports, especially football and was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. He also enjoyed country music, car racing and floating down the river. Shane treasured his family and friends and loved to make them laugh. His favorite holiday was the 4th of July, enjoying all the fireworks. Shane was preceded in death by his grandparents: Fred & Opal Adkisson and Kenneth Hansen. Shane is survived by his wife: Tammy Adkisson of Emerson, IA; three daughters of the home: Alyssa, Jessy, and Katie; mother: Cindy Rea and husband Larry of Red Oak, IA; father: Richard D. Adkisson and wife Susan of Council Bluffs, IA; brother: Lance Adkisson of New Market, IA; sister: Shelly Goodrich and husband Dennis of Stanton, IA; grandmother: Letty Hethcote of Red Oak, IA; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives along with a host of friends. May God bless his memory and give strength to those who mourn. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak Rev. Alan Dean, Officiating Visitation with the family present at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
