Michael Lee Lathan Newton, the son of Donald A. and Kathleen M. Rushing Newton, was born June 5, 1977 in Iowa City, Iowa. He died suddenly on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at his home in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 31 years, 3 months and 12 days.
Michael lived most of his life in Kansas City, Missouri. He moved to Red Oak, Iowa in l998. Michael was united in marriage to Kelli Marie James on July 9, 2005 in Dallas Center, Iowa. Michael loved his kids and basset hound dogs. He was a truck driver and enjoyed being on the road. While in his teenage years, Michael did a lot of woodworking. He had a knack for growing pumpkins. Michael would always lend a helping hand to people. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Newton and father-in-law, Doug James.
Michael is survived by his wife, Kelli Newton of Red Oak, IA; children: Michael Elliot Newton of Mound City, KS; Katharine James of Dallas Center, IA; Mason and Sierra Newton of Red Oak, IA; mother: Kathleen Strain of Red Oak, IA; brothers: Pat Bond of Earlham, IA; Donny Newton of Indianapolis, IN; Marty Gregory of OK; sisters: Debby Robertson of Des Moines, IA; Kelly Gregory of Lewisburg, KS; Coni Gregory of Lewisburg, KS; mother-in-law: Penny James of Dallas Center, IA; other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be held Sunday, September 21, 2008 at 2:00 p.m.
at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home, Red Oak, IA

Visitation with the family present at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home on Saturday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Cremation will follow the service and burial of cremated remains will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the family.
The family also requests causal dress for the service.
