Michael Robert Ransom, the son of Robert D. and Leone (Salmon) Ransom, was born October 30, 1962 at Carroll, Iowa. He passed away suddenly on Monday, May 28, 2018 in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 55 years, 6 months and 28 days.

Mike was raised in Carson, Iowa and graduated from Carson High School. He lived in the Carson and Council Bluffs areas and worked with his step-father as a truck and trailer mechanic in west central Iowa. In 1996, Mike moved to Red Oak and worked many years as a pilot car driver for road construction companies that took him to places all over the United States. Mike's greatest treasures were his children and grandchildren and loved attending their sporting events and activities. Mike enjoyed fishing, spending time outdoors and was a faithful Dallas Cowboy football fan. While he was here just a little while, Mike left a big impact on his children, family and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his father and step-father.

Mike is survived by his children: Jodie Van Houten of Red Oak, IA; Melissa Ransom of Kansas City, MO, Stacie Ransom of Council Bluffs, IA, Alexis Ransom, Bailey Ransom, Caleb Ransom and Emily Ransom all of Red Oak, IA and Jacob (Crysti) Donohue of Liberty Hill, Texas; grandchildren: Jaylyn and Jax Van Houten of Red Oak, IA; mother, Leone Boruff of Omaha, NE; siblings: Ron Ransom of Carson, IA, Susan (Doug) Sheets of Omaha, NE, Wanda (Carl) Burhenne of Council Bluffs, IA and Vickie (Jay) Friedrichsen of Council Bluffs, IA; other relatives and many friends.
