Mildred Joyce Roof's Obituary
Mildred Joyce Roof, the daughter of Ray A. and Bernice (Bowen) McDonald, was born March 18, 1931 at Jesse, Oklahoma. She passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Red Oak Health Care Community, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 83 years and 17 days.
Mildred was raised in the Lane, Oklahoma area. She was united in marriage to Grady Leeper in l949. Mildred moved to Red Oak in l970. On July 9, 1976, Mildred was united in marriage to Alonzo "Lonnie" Roof in Red Oak. She enjoyed raising a vegetable garden, crocheting and playing solitaire. Mildred became a resident of the Red Oak Health Care Community in July of 2013.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lonnie on March 15, l998; daughters: Joyce Smith and Donna Rodriguez; and step-children: Frank Roof, Marion Roof, Eugene Roof, Charlotte Brake and Betty Brackhahn.
Mildred is survived by three sons: Harold Leeper, Billy Leeper and Charles Roof all of Red Oak, IA; step-children: William Roof of Glenwood, IA, Robert Roof of Sidney, IA and Anna May Gould of Red Oak, IA; 7 grandchildren: Billy Leeper, Joe Smith, Lisa Jenkins, Eugene Torres, Thomas Torres III, Rachel Torres and Kambree Roof; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers: Fred McDonald of Eufaula, OK and Roger McDonald of Spokane, WA; and sister, Kay Villa of Geyserville, CA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Sunday, April 13 from 2-4 p.m.
at Red Oak Healthcare Community's activity room.
