Miriam Eleanor Larson, the daughter of Wallace F. and Anna S. Johnson Larson was born May 22, 1913, northeast of Stanton, Iowa. She passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at the Stanton Care Center, Stanton, Iowa at the age of 96 years, 5 months and 5 days. In 1920 and at the age of 7, Miriam and her family moved from the farm into Stanton. She graduated from Stanton High School with the class of l934. Following graduation, Miriam attended Red Oak Junior College for two years. Her career as a stenographer at the Thos. D. Murphy Calendar Company in Red Oak spanned over 30 years. Miriam was a life-long member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Stanton, having been confirmed there in l928. She belonged to the Covenant Women's group, and for approximately 16 years served as choir director, as music was a passion and of great interest to her. Miriam was a long-time member of Stanton's 20th Century Club and the 15-20 year club of Thos. D. Murphy Co. She became a resident of the Stanton Care Center in 2000. Miriam was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Paul who died in infancy; and sister, Melva. Miriam is survived by cousins: Kenneth Marks of Lincoln, NE; Norman Marks of Geneva, NE; Charles Johnson of Clarinda, IA; Robert Larson of Des Moines, IA; Russel Larson of Anza, CA; and Roger Larson of Lincoln, NE; along with many friends. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church, Stanton, Iowa Burial at Mission Covenant Cemetery, rural Stanton Rev. Paul Warder, Officiating Open Viewing at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home Wednesday, October 28 from 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Stanton's Evangelical Covenant Church.
