Obituary

Nathan Ward Scott, the son of Ward W. and Helen L. Weirich Scott was born April 15, 1940 in Pottawattamie County, Iowa near Elliott. He passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Immanuel Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 69 years and 29 days. Nathan lived his entire life on farms near Elliott, Iowa. He graduated from Elliott High School in l958. Nathan was united in marriage to Shirley A. Kennedy on January 10, 1960 in Red Oak, IA. Shirley passed away on June 9, 2000. Nathan was a country boy thru and thru; he farmed, and drove truck for himself and others. On July 6, 2001, Nathan was united in marriage to Geneva Z. Minnick in Custer, SD. Nathan was an excellent motorcycle mechanic, having worked for Lee's Honda in Red Oak, even though his favorite bike was a Triumph. Nathan was an animal lover. He loved his dogs and was so proud of his AKC German Shorthair dogs and puppies, especially this year. Nathan raised and showed pleasure class quarter horses and was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and Foundation AQHA. As a farmer, he also became fond of gardening. Nathan was a collector and had numerous collections from hats to pens and treasured his keepsakes. He enjoyed cars, pickups, and especially motorcycles, working and playing with many makes and models. Nate seemed to recall most events in his life with great detail, along with having a wonderful sense of humor. He really enjoyed spending time with family, friends and visiting with acquaintances. Nathan was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Shirley. Nathan is survived by his wife: Geneva Z. Scott of Elliott, Iowa; son: Rick Scott of Atlantic, IA; two daughters: Deb Kennon and husband Kevin of Stanton, IA; and Sheri Streeter and companion Dave Brown of Onawa, IA; four grandchildren: Josh Krause and wife Kate; Brandon Krause; Cody Sorensen; and Kyndra Sorensen; great-grandchild: Tevin; step-sons: Darin Templeton of Yuma, AZ; and Jesse Templeton of Cleveland, OH; step-daughter: LeAnn Crosby and husband Josh of Council Bluffs, IA; four step-granddaughters: Alex, Aryka, Madison, and Jade, along with other relatives and many friends. May God bless his memory and give strength to those who mourn. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Elliott United Methodist Church, Elliott, IA Burial in Noble Center Cemetery, Cass County, IA Rev. Terry McClain, Officiating Visitation with the family present at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home on Monday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A memorial is being established in Nathan's name. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
