Obituary

Nina Jan Kling, the daughter of Ralph and Betty (Cole) Hultine, was born October 8, 1954, in Port Washington, Wisconsin. She passed away on Friday, June 19, 2026, at CHI Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 71 years, 8 months, and 11 days.

Nina was raised in Wisconsin, Des Moines, Iowa, and Melcher, Iowa, before the family moved to Red Oak in 1970. She graduated from Red Oak High School in 1972. On December 31, 1972, Nina was united in marriage to Kevin Kling in Red Oak, Iowa. Nina honorably served two years in the U.S. Army. Over the years, they made their homes in Red Oak, Stanton, Clarinda and for many years in Villisca. This past year, Nina resided with her daughter, Kelsi, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Nina had dedicated 48 years to NSK in Clarinda, Iowa, having worked as a quality control inspector. She was an amazing singer and saxophone player, enjoyed playing BINGO and collecting rocks. She dearly loved her grandchildren and little dog, Shiloh. Nina was a member of the Red Hat Ladies.

Nina was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Hultine; mother, Betty Hultine; step-mother, Mildred Hultine; husband, Kevin Kling on April 8, 2018; daughters: Dana Marie and Katie Louise; sister, Sharon and husband Wayne Grife; brothers-in-law: Richard Lucy and Daniel Kutis; and step siblings: Paul Ganley, Nancy Elkins and Laura Skidmore.

Nina is survived by her children: Roxana “Roxi” Kling (Larry Wooten) of Maitland, MO, Meri Kling (Mark Berggren) of Red Oak, IA, Andrew “Andy” (Tabatha) Kling of Red Oak, IA and Kelsi Kling (Edward Lockerby) of Council Bluffs, IA; 8 grandchildren: Allyssa, Jackson, Sadi, Mayci, Bella, Lilli, Aubri and Tarah; great-granddaughter, Ayva; siblings: Christie Lucy, Timothy (Cheryl) Hultine Judy Kutis, Tamara (Robert) Barrett, Kathi (Mark) Brummel and Dana Hultine; step-siblings: David Ganley and Linda Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, June 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home, Red Oak, Iowa.

Burial in Mamre Cemetery, Stanton, Iowa

Visitation with family on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
