Meyer
August 16, 1936 – November 22, 2021
Nola Ann Meyer, the daughter of John H. and Elizabeth (Simms) McFarland was born August 16, 1936, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She passed away on Monday, November 22, 2021, at the Red Oak Good Samaritan Society, Red Oak, Iowa, the age of 85 years, 3 months and 6 days.
In Nola's early childhood, she was raised on a farm near Searsboro, Iowa. She began school in Searsboro when in 1945, her parents moved to a farm near Cromwell, Iowa. Nola graduated from Cromwell High school in 1955, and attended Creston Junior College, graduating with a teaching certificate. On August 16, 1958, Nola was united in marriage to Kenneth Meyer in Cromwell, Iowa. She taught 2nd and 3rd grades in St. Mary's, Iowa. Nola and Kenneth later moved to a farm near Lenox, Iowa, and in 1970 to Red Oak, Iowa, where Kenneth continued his trucking career. Nola worked at the Tiger's Den Restaurant a short time before beginning her 21-year career with the Red Oak Community School District, as a cook. She worked for Sunshine & Rainbows Preschool and then Regency Retirement for 10 years. Nola was a member of Red Oak's First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for 40 years. Nola enjoyed playing the piano, making crafts, going on trips out west, camping and home-made ice cream, which she had for her 85th birthday party this year.
Nola was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth on December 13, 2020; son, Dean; nephews: Scott and Michael; and godson, Mike Eggert.
Nola is survived by her son, Glen Meyer of Red Oak, IA; sister, Betty McFarland of Red Oak, IA; brother, Jack (Judy) McFarland of Afton, IA; sister-in-law, Mary (Richard) Lister of Red Oak, IA; nieces, nephews; godson, Andy Eggert; and good friend, Jeff; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be held
Friday, November 26, 2021 at 11:30 a.m.
At First United Methodist Church, Red Oak, Iowa
Visitation with the family one hour prior to the funeral beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Burial will be held in the afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Grant Cemetery, Grant, Iowa. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery by 1:50 p.m. for the service.
Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church, Red Oak.
