Norman LaVon Peterson, the son of Carl V. and Honorine (Anderson) Peterson was born October 27, 1933 at Villisca, Iowa. He passed away on Friday, August 14, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Center, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 18 days.
In 1934, when Norman was one, the family moved to the Stanton area. While attending school, he played baseball. In 1951, Norman graduated from Stanton High School. He worked as a carpenter with his father until he entered the U.S. Army on May 12, 1955. Norman served with Company E 34th Signal Corps and was honorably discharged on May 8, 1957. Norman began a career with the State of Iowa inspecting restaurants, and later as an auditor, auditing gas and oil stations and nursing homes. He retired from the State of Iowa in l995. Norman continued his love for baseball by playing and managing the Stanton Town Team for many years. He was also an avid supporter of all the Stanton High School sports. In his spare time, Norman enjoyed playing golf and building grandfather clocks. He was a member of the Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Stanton and the Red Oak Elks Lodge.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Donald "Pete" Peterson and Dale Peterson; and two nephews: Dale Peterson Jr. and Craig Peterson.
Norman is survived by two brothers: Stanley Peterson and wife Janice of Stanton, IA; and Carl Vincent Peterson of Placentia, CA; sister, JoAnn English and husband Joseph of Burnsville, MN; sister-in-law, Jeanette Peterson of Ledyard, CT; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.

Memorial Graveside Service will be held Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Mamre Cemetery, Stanton, Iowa with Military Rites.
