Obituary

Opal Muzelle Foy, the daughter of Ralph and Lenore McGee Vest was born April 1, 1918 in Kirkman, Iowa. She died on Saturday, October 6, 2007 at Good Samaritan Center in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 89 years, 6 months and 5 days. Opal spent her early years in Kirkman, Iowa. The family moved to Red Oak and then to Manchester, Iowa, where Opal graduated from Manchester High School. Following graduation, Opal returned to Red Oak. She worked several years for the Thos D. Murphy Calendar Company. Opal was united in marriage to Milo "Tommy" Foy on June 19, 1940 in Red Oak, Iowa. They soon made their home on a farm southwest of Red Oak, where they also raised their sons. Opal enjoyed being a homemaker and helping her husband with the farm. Opal loved to dance; she and Tommy even won a dance contest at the Eagles Lodge when they were in their late 60's. Opal enjoyed listening to music and her son's say "she was the best cook around." Opal was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milo "Tommy" Foy; and daughter-in-law, Ruth Ann Foy. Opal is survived by her three sons: Ronald Foy of Houston, TX; Dennis Foy and wife Patricia of Louisville, KY; Alan Foy and wife Marilyn of Red Oak, IA; two grandsons: Matthew Foy and wife Jen of Louisville, KY; and David Foy and wife Keri of Nashville, TN; brothers: Harold Vest and wife Gloria of Red Oak, IA; Max Vest and wife Louvain of Atlanta, GA; other relatives and a host of friends. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Graveside Service will be held Thursday, October 11, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Salem Cemetery, southwest of Red Oak Rev. Caryn Pedersen, Officiating Visitation with the family present at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 10 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorials to the Alzheimer?s Association Family and friends will meet at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday for procession to the cemetery.
