Obituary

Leonard Lee Taylor, the son of Russell Taylor and Arlene Bell was born on April 23, 1958, in Carroll, Iowa. He passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at UNMC in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 63.

Len grew up in Sequim, Washington. He graduated from high school in Sequim in 1976 and returned to Iowa in 1981. During this time he was a restaurant manager, served as a youth pastor, and was a drug and alcohol counselor in the Des Moines area. On April 19, 1998, Len married Kristin Krieman in Newton, Iowa. It was a joy for him to be a dad to his two daughters, Megan and Katie. He was so proud of his girls. While living in Newton, Len felt called to become a pastor. He attended University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa and Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Kansas. While in school, he served several small churches as a pastor. Following his education, Len and Kris moved to Des Moines, Iowa, to be near family. In 2007, Len and Kris moved to Red Oak, Iowa so he could be pastor of the First Baptist Church, now The Bridge.

Len spent his life caring for others. He loved spending time with his family, watching Hawkeyes football, and especially loved being Papa to his five grandkids. Len was always a strong shoulder to lean on and a soft place to fall when life was tough. It was very important to him to be there for others in times of need. He believed in seeing the good in people even when they couldn't see it in themselves. There is no mistake too big that can separate you from God, and no mistake that was too big for Len to welcome you as a friend and as part of the church family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Russell Taylor.

Len is survived by his wife, Kristin Taylor of Red Oak, IA; two daughters: Katie (Mike) Redington of Martelle, IA and Megan (Chris) Marsh of Oakland, IA; five grandchildren: Hunter, Hannah, Gabi, Franky, and Matthew; other relatives, church family and friends.
