Patricia Kay Elder Eklof was born May 18, 1937, at Maitland, Missouri, to Leonard J. Elder and Cynthia Louise McGinnis Elder. She passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa, at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 11 days.

Pat lived in Maitland until she graduated from high school at Maitland High School. She then attended and graduated from Northwest Missouri University at Maryville, Missouri, with a BS in Secondary Education. Upon graduation from college, she began her teaching career at Stanton High School, Stanton, Iowa, where she taught home economics and business for two years, then business for the majority of her career, adding computer applications in later years. Pat taught a total of thirty-seven years, thirty-six of those years in the Stanton Community system with a year at East Union Community School in Afton, Iowa.

Pat was married to Charles A. (Chuck) Eklof of Stanton on June 4, 1961 at Mamrelund Lutheran Church. They had one son, David. She was preceded in death by their son, C. David Eklof on August 26, 1978, and by her parents.

Professionally, Pat was active in the Iowa Business Education Association serving a term as secretary and as convention co-chairperson of that organization. She also served on the Iowa Cadre and Business Education for three years serving a term as chairperson.

Pat loved teaching and working with students and learning new things herself. She was always very proud to be a part of the Stanton Community School District.

Pat was a former member of Entre Nous Study Club, Worthwhile Club, Alpha Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, and a member of Mamrelund Lutheran Church where she served a term on the church council holding the office of board secretary. She participated in women's circles and had served as leader. Pat had also taught confirmation and served as librarian.

Pat was an avid reader, loved to sew, and she and Chuck enjoyed traveling. She had made quilts for each of their nephews, niece and great nephews and nieces, as well as other special projects.

May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn.
