Paul LeRoy Carlstedt, the son of Paul A. and Mary (Selby) Carlstedt was born January 24, 1929 near Emerson, Iowa. He passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 21 days.
Paul lived his entire life within a few miles of his birthplace. In 1946, he graduated from Emerson High School. Paul was united in marriage to Norma Jean Moore on February 23, 1950 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Red Oak, Iowa. He was a farmer and worked for the Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America for 36 years. Paul was an antique tractor enthusiast, and restored many of the tractors he owned. Paul also spent time tinkering with his Ham radios. He was a nature lover and enjoyed hunting all types of game. Paul loved all of his many dogs. He enjoyed visiting with friends over coffee at various places, and was also known to be somewhat of a prankster. Paul was a member of the Indian Creek Historical Society Museum by Emerson and Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Red Oak. He truly loved his family; his wife, Jean and the past 65 years they shared on the farm, along with his daughters and grandchildren.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Duane.
Paul is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Carlstedt; daughters: Diane Vyhlidal and husband Ron of Fremont, NE; and Cindy Vyhlidal and husband Daryl of Fremont, NE; three grandchildren: Paul (Kylie) Von Seggern, Aaron Von Seggern and Mary Von Seggern; a great-grandchild due in May; and sister, Melva House of Denver, CO; other relatives and a host of friends.

Celebration of Life Service will be held
Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 10:30 a.m.
At Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home, Red Oak
Inurnment will be in the Emerson Cemetery, Emerson, Iowa
Memorials to the Indian Creek Historical Society Museum.
No Viewing or Visitation will be held.
