Paul Allen Peterson, the son of Paul F. and Edna Myrtle Sederburg Peterson was born July 31, 1934 in Page County, Iowa. He passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 15 days. Allen was born on a farm near Essex. He was baptized in the Fremont Lutheran Church at Nyman. The family moved to Stanton in 1938 and Allen was confirmed at the Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Stanton. In 1943, the family made their home in Stennett. Allen attended school at Centennial Country School and Stennett Consolidated School, where he played basketball and graduated as salutatorian in 1952. Allen loved learning, earning his Associate of Arts Degree from Luther College in Wahoo, NE; Bachelor of Arts Degree from Bethany College, Lindsborg, KS and later a Master of Science in Librarianship from Kansas State College in Emporia, KS. Allen taught high school English for a few years in Leroy, KS and then worked for the Kansas State Library Commission. He later accepted a position of categorizing books in the Technical Service Department for the Cedar Rapids, Iowa Public Library. After several years in Cedar Rapids, he resigned from the library due to asthma and epilepsy. He worked a few years in Omaha, NE, before returning to Stennett in the l970's. While in Stennett he worked with his brother, LeRoy, at the Stennett Elevator. His brothers say, ""Allen was the brightest, wittiest, and most creative of the four Peterson boys. He had a talent for creating cartoons and was a fanciful story teller."" Allen was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Dorothy Lantz Honett and Helen Marie Pendgraft. Allen is survived by three brothers: LeRoy Peterson of rural Red Oak, IA; Carrol D. Peterson and wife Lois of Princess Ann, MD; and Lawrence ""Larry"" Peterson and wife Martha of Red Oak, IA; nieces, nephews, cousins, along with other relatives and friends.
