Paula F. Smith, the daughter of Billy and Carol (Halderman) McAlister was born May 18, 1955 in Dalhart, Texas. She passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at her home in rural Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 66 years, 1 month and 11 days.

Paula lived in Texas and Arizona, where she especially loved Flagstaff. In 1975, Paula moved to Clarinda where she attended Clarinda Community College. This is where she met her future husband, Dennis Smith. Paula and Dennis were united in marriage on July 5, 1976 in Blum, Texas and two sons were born to this union. Paula worked many years for Murphy Calendar Company/JII and then at Hy-Vee, before finishing her career at Parker-Hannifin. Paula liked sports and loved to follow her sons sporting events. Paula was preceded in death by her parents.

Paula is survived by her husband, Dennis Smith of rural Red Oak, IA; sons: Lonnie Smith of Osceola, IA and Joe Smith of Red Oak, IA; 6 grandchildren; brother, Billy McAlister of Grady, NM; and sisters: Bonnie Adams of Grady, NM and Jacki Berry of Hurst, TX; other relatives and friends.
