Peggy Katherine Helmer, the daughter of Gene and Eloise (Richendollar) Greene was born March 28, 1940 at Ironton, Ohio. She passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 74 years, 2 months and 6 days. Peggy was raised in Ironton, Ohio and graduated from high school at Ironton. She was united in marriage Ronald F. Helmer on December 28, 1958 and they lived in Aurora, Illinois for 25 years. She moved to Red Oak in 1989. During her life, she attended the Assembly of God Church or the Church of God. She most recently had been a resident of Red Oak Healthcare Community. Peggy loved her Lord and church, and also collecting Elvis Presley memorabilia. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Helmer and brother, Eugene Greene. Peggy is survived by her son, Timothy Helmer and wife Alyn of Lewisville, Texas; daughter, Rondah Haugh and husband Mark of Washougal, Washington; 6 grandchildren: Jordan Helmer, Xander Helmer, Holly Neitzey, Sara Brady, Justina Gonzaga and Andrew Elkins; 8 great-grandchildren; and brother, Roy Green and wife Sue of Yorkville, Illinois, other relatives and friends. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Graveside Service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak, Iowa Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Ricky Rohrig Sr., Officiating No Visitation or Viewing will be held and family and friends are to meet at the cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
