Phyllis Eileen Poe, the daughter of Irl and Edna Bylund Bell was born November 20, 1939 in Rolfe, Iowa. She passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at the Red Oak Rehab & Care Center, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 67 years, 7 months and 22 days. Phyllis graduated from Pierson High School, Pierson, Iowa in l957. She attended A.I.B. College of Business in Des Moines, Iowa. Phyllis began her working career in Sioux City, Iowa, where she met her husband, Donald Poe. They were united in marriage on October 18, 1958 in Sioux City. From this union, three children were born: Brenda, Brian and Barbara. Later, Donald and Phyllis were divorced. Phyllis and her children moved to Red Oak, Iowa and she went to work for her father at Bell-Cooper Feed Mill. Phyllis later worked for the Union Carbide Battery Company in Red Oak, dedicating 18 years to the company. Phyllis enjoyed people and staying busy and after the closing of the Carbide Plant, she went to work as a front desk clerk at the Red Coach Inn. For a number of years, she was also an Avon representative. Phyllis was a member of Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Stanton, and a member of Beta Sigma Phi. She loved to listen to music and read books. Phyllis treasured her grandchildren. She loved spending time with them and was greatly interested in all their activities. Phyllis was honored to receive from the Iowa National Guard their Meritorious Service Award. Phyllis was preceded in death by her father; brother-in-law, Steve Simpson; and husband, Donald Poe. Phyllis is survived by her three children: Brenda Williams and husband Richard of Stanton, IA; Brian Poe and wife Terri of Imogene, IA; Barbara Mordah and husband Jeff of New Ulm, MN; ten grandchildren: Josh, Janae, Justin, Jordan, Ashley, Kelsey, Mason, Bailey, Schleen and Jonlee; mother: Edna Bell of Red Oak, IA; brothers: Warren ?Rick? Bell and wife Beverly of Canyon Country, CA and John ?Jack? Bell and wife Kathie of Red Oak, IA; sisters: Lois Watnem and husband Allan of Humboldt, IA; Mrs. Shirley Simpson of Wilmington, DE; Susan Carlson and husband Dennis of Red Oak, IA; and Sheryl Franzen and husband Larry of Stanton, IA; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
