Phyllis Ann Woods, the daughter of Harry and Pauline (Ervin) Johnson was born November 7, 1929 in Red Oak, Iowa. She passed away on November 19, 2018 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 89 years and 12 days.
Phyllis was raised in Red Oak and graduated from Red Oak High School. She worked a short time as a telephone operator in Omaha, Nebraska. Phyllis was united in marriage to Perry L. Woods on January 10, 1951 at Harrison, Arkansas and they made their home in Red Oak. Over the years she worked for Montgomery Ward, Union Carbide Battery Company for 10 years, Good Samaritan Society and Red Oak Greenhouses. Phyllis also helped her husband Perry, with their plumbing business, as bookkeeper. She loved babysitting her grandchildren and enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, being outdoors in the sun and canning her produce from her garden. Phyllis was a member of the First United Methodist Church and past member of the Eagles Auxiliary and Elks Lodge. She loved her dogs and other animals.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Perry on June 16, 1996; and two sisters: Mary Jane Graham and Jean Marie Oberthien.
Phyllis is survived by children: Marty (Maxine) Woods of Glenwood, IA, Colette Swisher of Red Oak, IA and Lynn (Kevin) Peterson of Salina, KS; 7 grandchildren: Justin Woods (Caitlin) of Omaha, NE , Nic (Ashlee) Woods of Glenwood, IA, Andrew (Cara) Woods of Omaha, NE, Danielle Woods of Red Oak, IA, Whitney Stephens of Red Oak, IA, Kip Peterson of Kansas City, MO and Kendra (Chad) Kreimendahl of Overland Park, KS; 7 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
