Obituary

Robert Allen Lombard Sr., the son of James E. and Edna Boyce Lombard, was born March 4, 1943 in Omaha, Nebraska. He passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Society, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 69 years, 4 months and 15 days. Robert was raised in Omaha, Nebraska and in 1966, moved to California. While in California, Robert worked as an auto mechanic, for the Bentley Company, and later, managed the Orange County Register newspaper for 10 years. In 1993, he made Red Oak, Iowa his home. Robert was united in marriage to Myrna Govig Penry on October 15, 1994 in Red Oak, Iowa. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and playing Bingo, along with spending many hours with his step-grandson, Christopher. Robert attended Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Red Oak. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Patricia Lombard and Rosemary Sparr; and four brothers: James, Lawrence, Joseph and Charlie; step-father, Harry Lukehart; step-sister, Patricia Ottens; and step-brother, Kenneth Lukehart. Robert is survived by his wife, Myrna Lombard of Red Oak, IA; six children: Robert Lombard Jr. of Orange County, CA; Richard Lombard of Sioux City, IA; and Sheila Lombard, Donna Lombard, Dawn Lombard, Crystal Lombard and husband Eduardo all of Anaheim, CA; step-children: Carolyn Lombard and husband George of Red Oak, IA; and Cherie Graham and husband Dale of Red Oak, IA; 18 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren: Heather Forsyth and fiancé John Lyons of Omaha, NE and Christopher Lombard of Red Oak, IA; brothers: George Lombard and wife Carolyn of Red Oak, IA; William Lombard and wife Bonnie of Omaha, NE; sisters: Carole McMullen and husband Frank of Massena, IA; Nancy Swentor and husband Robert of Council Bluffs, IA; step-brothers: Jerry Lukehart and wife Chic of Bellevue, NE; Rick Lukehart and wife Debby of Red Oak, IA; and Randy Lukehart of Clarksville, AR; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral Service will be held Monday, July 23, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home, Red Oak Burial in Arlington Cemetery, Villisca, IA Rev. Dr. George Hooper, Officiating Visitation with the family present Sunday, July 22, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home Memorials may be directed to the family.
