Obituary

Robert Rhea McMillin, the son of Robert O. and Norma L. (Yates) McMillin was born August 16, 1946 in Red Oak, Iowa. He passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 71 years, 6 months and 6 days.

Bob was a 1965 graduate of Red Oak High School. He entered the U.S. Navy on June 7, 1965, serving during Vietnam. Bob was united in marriage to Linda L. Abbott on February 14, 1969 at Tabor, Iowa. On June 6, 1969, he received his honorable discharge from the military. Bob worked for the Murphy Calendar Company, American Beef, and from 1970 to 1977, for Charlie's Skelly. Later in 1977, he began working for Uniroyal, now Parker-Hannifan and retired in 2008, after 31 years of service. Bob was a great mechanic, enjoyed fixing things and "tinkering" with many projects. If he could take it apart and put it back to together, he was happy. Bob loved to help on the farm and would visit with anyone, so he knew no strangers. Bob was a member of Hope for Life Church and the American Legion Lorraine Post #67, both of Red Oak.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Skye McMillin; brother, George McMillin and his wife Lucy and brother-in-law, David Volquartsen.

Bob is survived by his wife, Linda McMillin of Red Oak, IA; children: Karen Hardy and husband Terry of Villisca, IA, Richard McMillin and special friend Kim Putnam, Steven McMillin and special friend Elly Stoaks, and Jeffrey McMillin and special friend Kim Dierks, all of Red Oak, IA; 9 grandchildren: Brooke Clemmons and husband Brandon, Bryce Resh and special friend Megan Ross, Jesse McMillin and special friend Angie Staudt, Gaven McMillin, Gabriel McMillin, Annabelle McMillin, Keegan McMillin, Owen McMillin and Camden Youngberg; 2 step-granddaughters: Britni Gross and husband Bryan and Kaile Woods and husband Jake; 3 great-grandchildren: Natalie, Michael, and Jeremiah; 5 step-great-grandchildren: Brantly, Dixie and Lucas, Sophyia and Akhaysia; sisters: Nancy Smith and husband Dennis of Council Bluffs, IA; Velma Smith and husband Marlin of Red Oak, IA; Susan Volquartsen of Red Oak, IA and Dorotha Morris of Essex, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
