He did everything that he could do to spend time with them and he attended all of their school and sports activities. Rod was always an ISU sports fan, but when Grant and Greg left high school to play college football he was a strong supporter of the Simpson and Wartburg football teams. Rod was a member of Tabor Lutheran Church, Stanton Booster Club, loved to grill and was an excellent teacher, coach mentor and cook. He was always willing to help people. Most recently, Rod was blessed to have Deb Howe come into his life and the two of them built a very special relationship. Deb was able to help Rod enjoy life and along with their friends they have had some great times. Rod referred to Deb as his angel, who was also by his side when he became sick and she was able to provide him strength and encouragement when he needed it most.
