Obituary

Rodney Dean Ludwigs, the son of Fred J. and Lucille M. Ludwigs was born November 23, 1953 in Red Oak, Iowa. He passed away on Friday, October 17, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society, Villisca, Iowa at the age of 60 years, 10 months and 24 days. Rod was baptized and confirmed at Mamrelund Lutheran Church. He graduated from Stanton High School in 1972. Rod entered the U.S. Air Force on February 7, 1974, and served a year and a half in Japan. He was honorably discharged on November 11, 1977. Following his discharge, Rod went to work for Eveready Battery Company in Red Oak until 1986. He attended Metro Tech Community College in Omaha, Nebraska, receiving his associates' degree in HVAC. Rod returned to Stanton in 1990. In 2006, he began working at Clarinda Regional Health Center and moved to Clarinda in 2011. Golfing was Rod's favorite hobby, trying to golf every month of the year. He was an avid Nebraska football fan, fisherman, and really enjoyed all sports. Rod was a member of Mamrelund Lutheran Church and a past member of the American Legion Ernie Johnson Post #406 of Stanton, IA. Rod was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Larry Ludwigs. Rod is survived by his children: Janssen Ludwigs and fiancée Amanda Erickson of Stanton, IA and Jamie Evans of Oakland, IA; step-sons: Branden Bullington of Omaha, NE and Scott Bullington of Aurora, CO; three grandchildren: Emery Evans, Zoey Ludwigs and Jayden Ludwigs; sisters: LaVail Stafford and husband Steve of Wichita, KS and Renae Shelton and husband Bill of Clarinda, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. May God bless his memory and give strength to those who mourn. Funeral Service will be held Monday, October 20, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home, Red Oak, Iowa Burial at Mamre Cemetery, Stanton, Iowa Military Graveside Rites by American Legion Ernie Johnson Post #406 of Stanton Rev. Dr. Eric Kutzli, Officiating Visitation with the family on Sunday evening, Oct 19, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home A memorial is being established in Rod's name. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
