Obituary

Rodney Rodger Most, the son of Irvin and Adeline (Meyer) Most was born August 4, 1934, in Ohiowa, Nebraska. He passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa, at the age of 89 years, 5 months, and 2 days.

Rod was raised in Nebraska until 1940, when the family moved to Red Oak, Iowa. He graduated from Red Oak High School where he competed in track and field. Rod was united in marriage to Gloria Moody and to this union three sons were born: Lance, Monte and Marde. Rod entered the U. S. Navy on December 6, 1955, and was honorably discharged on September 15, 1957. Following his service to our country, Rod worked in numerous places during his life including, for Bud Turner, where he worked with the horses, Green Bay Lumber and Wilson Lumberyard. Rod then drove a truck for Saldi Express, where he delivered U.S. Mail to area post offices, and parts delivery to Big A stores. In his retirement years, Rod worked at the Flying A Cattle Ranch, enjoyed spending time with Karen refurbishing old wagons, fishing, and taking care of his farm and animals. Rod was a gifted woodworker and loved spending time with all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Rod was a past member of Rotary.

Rod was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Angel Dykes; two sisters: Elaine Carlson and Norma Kindberg; and his companion of many years, Karen Miller.

Rod is survived by his three sons: Lance (Kathi) Most of Red Oak, IA, Monte (Jimmie) Most of Red Oak, IA and Marde (Amy) Most of Thurman, IA; 11 grandchildren: Crystal, Josh, Stephanie, Aubrey, Obie, Erin, Misty, Damien, Jennifer, Tamara and Julia; 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; Karen's children: Jody, Pam, Charlie, Amy and Mark; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial Graveside Service with Military Rites will be held
Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 10:30 a.m.
At Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak, Iowa

Family are to meet at the cemetery for the service.

Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at the Red Oak Depot & WWII Memorial Museum
On Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to the Hawthorne Methodist Church.
