Ronald Stephen Farnum, the son of Ragnar "Rags" and Edith (Holmberg) Farnum was born January 7, 1943, at Red Oak, Iowa. He passed away peacefully at his home in rural Red Oak, Iowa, on Monday, January 11, 2021, at the age of 78 years and 4 days.
Ronnie was raised in Red Oak where he attended Red Oak High School. On June 26, 1962, Ronnie was united in marriage to Jannette King in Red Oak. Ronnie dedicated his career to the Montgomery County Secondary Roads Department, working in many positions, and retiring after 33 years of service. Wanting to stay busy after retirement, he decided to drive a truck for Red Oak Greenhouses and really enjoyed the traveling and places it took him to. Ronnie loved his family, fishing, shooting pool, hunting, being outdoors and later in life, gardening. He always made time to have a cold beer with friends. Ronnie was a member of the First Covenant Church in Red Oak.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert (Shirley) Farnum and sister, Mary Ann (Delano) Magneson.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jannette Farnum of Red Oak, IA; three children: Michael (Cheryl) Farnum of Red Oak, IA, Cindy (Mark) Philby of Red Oak, IA and Kristi Davidson of Missoula, MT; 6 grandchildren: Christopher (Ansley) Philby, Nick Philby, Stephanie Belt, Brandon Farnum, Kody (Sara) Davidson and Ashley Davidson; great-grandchild, Hazelee Belt and one more soon to be born; brothers-in-law: Ronnie King, Roger (Lynda) King and Marvin King all of Red Oak, IA; and sister-in-law, Joann Williams of Stanton, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Private Family Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to the Red Oak Fire & Rescue Association.
Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home is assisting the family with Ronnie's arrangements.
