RONALD BROWN SWANSON, age 75 of Gering, NE Ronald Brown Swanson, 75, of Gering, died Sunday, May 25, 2008 at Regional West Medical Center at Scottsbluff. His Graveside Service will be Saturday, May 31 at 10:30 A.M. at the Evergreen Cemetery at Red Oak, IA. with the Reverend John Swenson officiating. A Memorial has been established to the Leukemia Foundation. Ronald was born July 8, 1932 at Red Oak, IA., the son of Russell Herbert Bernard and Anna Ruth Brown Swanson. He was raised and educated at North Platte, NE., graduating with the Class of 1950 from the North Platte High School. He then attended Doane College at Crete for 2 years and graduated from Denver University in 1954 with a degree in Economics. He returned to North Platte where he joined the family business of Swanson Motors selling Studebaker Automobiles. The Company later changed their name to Swanson Pontiac, Buick and GMC. He sold this business in 1977. In 1978 he purchased Western Beer Distributorship which he operated until selling this business in 1987, when he retired. Ronald moved to Gering in 1998 to be closer to his sons. He was a member of the B.P.O.E. and Coyotes Club both at North Platte. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, as well as enjoying playing cards. Survivors include his sons Scott Carla Swanson of Gering, Kirk Swanson of Windsor, CO., grandchildren Jessica, Eric, Derek and Stephanie Swanson and sister Joanne Don Dutcher of North Platte. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Rhonda Ann Swanson.
