Rose Mary'n Keast, the daughter of William and Edene (Olson) Brown was born June 10, 1936, at Rulo, Nebraska. She passed away with her family beside her on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at the age of 87 years, 8 months and 4 days, while under hospice care.
Rose was born in Rulo, Nebraska, moving later with her parents and siblings to the Elliott, Iowa area, where she graduated high school. On October 24, 1953, Rose was united in marriage to Robert D. Keast in Winterset, Iowa. They made their home in Red Oak in 1967, and in l978, moved to their acreage south of Red Oak. Rose worked as a radio operator for the Red Oak Police Department, and then for the Red Oak Post Office as a clerk, being the first woman hired there. She served 25 years plus with the USPS, before her retirement. Rose enjoyed painting, being outdoors, gardening and tending her flowers, as she was a true naturalist in so many ways. Rose had a strong conviction on many topics and not afraid to share them. She was a member of the RLDS Church.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert on January 23, 2018; daughters: Kim Brillas and infant, Kellie; sister, Laurel Smith; and brothers: Dennis, David, William, Howard and Don.
Rose is survived by her two children: Karol (John) Johnson of Savannah, MO and Robert Kendall (Karen) Keast of Manchester, MI; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers: Richard (Connie) Brown of Council Bluffs, IA and Charles Brown of Marshalltown, IA; and sisters: Georgia Rensch of Red Oak, IA and Rhonda Wickering of Marshalltown, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In accordance with her wishes, Rose was cremated, and a private family service will take place at a later date in Hillside Cemetery, Elliott, Iowa.
Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Fire & Rescue Association.
Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home is in charge of Rose's arrangements and serving her family.
