Obituary

Ruby Maxine Bailey, the daughter of Evan and Carrie Chrisman was born November 6, 1915 in Red Oak, Iowa. She died suddenly on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at her home in Red Oak at the age of 91 years, 7 months and 13 days. Maxine started school in Red Oak and as the family moved she attended school in Denver, CO and St. Louis, MO. The family moved back to Red Oak where she graduated from Red Oak High School. Maxine was united in marriage to Clarke B. Bailey on August 31, 1932 in Papillion, Nebraska. They made their home and raised their family on the farm where Clarke was born, until 2001 when they moved into Red Oak. In 1959, Maxine accepted a job as manager of the Stamp Redemption Center which was located upstairs in the Fifield Furniture Store. She held that position for 8 years, as the store then closed. Throughout the years, Maxine worked at Gambles, Medicine Chest and Pamida. Maxine was a life long member of the First Christian Church of Red Oak. She was a past president of the Does, Auxiliary of the Elks Lodge. The Auxiliary was very active during at this time. Maxine was a member of many other organizations and clubs throughout her life. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarke on August 4, 2002; daughter, Mary; 3 grandchildren: Patricia and Mark White and Dana Lynette Bailey; and 2 brothers: George and Henry Chrisman. Maxine is survived by sons: Darwin Bailey and wife Lou of Red Oak, Iowa; and Wayne Bailey and wife Connie of Red Oak, Iowa; 13 grandchildren: Kristine Campbell, Bonnie White, Kathy Friedman, John White, Steve White, Beverly Stumpe, Debra Belt, Diane Bailey, Denise Bailey, Brent Bailey, Pamela Grooms, David Bailey and Dennis Bailey; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives, along with a host of friends. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. At the First Christian Church, Red Oak Private Burial will be held in Evergreen Cemetery Rev. JoAnn Thomas, Officiating Visitation with the family present at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. Memorials to First Christian Church, Red Oak Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
