Ruby Lee Hardisty Munro, the daughter of Henry W. and Ardecia Mitchell Richardson was born June 7, 1926 in Goss, Louisiana, De Soto Parish. She passed away on Monday, March 28, 2011 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 21 days. Ruby was raised in Many and Fisher, Louisiana. In 1943, she moved to Mt. Vernon, Illinois to live with her sister, Marie and work at the local shoe factory. Ruby was united in marriage to Darold B. Hardisty on August 2, 1944 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. In 1945, Ruby and Darold moved to Carbon, Iowa and later to Grant City, Missouri. In 1951, they returned to make their home in Carbon. Ruby worked at the Corner Café in Corning. She was later united in marriage to George Munro on May 10, 1973 in Red Oak, Iowa. Ruby and George had made Red Oak their home since. Ruby enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George on April 23, 2000; three sisters: Marie Nelson, Charlene Lewing and Joann Young. Ruby is survived by her three children: Bruce Hardisty and wife Beverly of Omaha, NE; Larry Hardisty and fiancée Sandra of Corning, IA; and Mary Ranney and husband Dale of Massena, IA; step-daughter, Patricia Nelson and husband Lanny of Red Oak, IA; 24 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Jessie Doolan of Lake Charles, LA; and Ramona Rogers of Coushatta, LA; brother, Glen Richardson of Many, LA; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak Pastor Len Taylor, Officiating Visitation with the family present on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home Memorials may be directed to Red Oak Fire & Rescue Association.
