Russell Raymond Lewis, the son of Harold O. and Vera E. Hendrix Lewis was born June 7, 1937 in Red Oak, Iowa. He passed away Monday, November 8, 2010 at the Stanton Health Center, Stanton, Nebraska at the age of 73 years, 5 months and 1 day. Russell was raised in Red Oak and graduated with the Red Oak High School class of l954. He served in the Iowa Army National Guard for a few years. Russell moved to Lincoln, NE in l961. He worked for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Lincoln from 1961 until his retirement in 1992. Following his retirement he moved to De Quincy, LA, living there for 15 years. In 2006, Russell returned to Red Oak, IA. Russell was united in marriage to Neta S. Harold Carlson on October 10, 2006 in Red Oak, IA. In 2008, Russell and Neta made their home in Norfolk, NE. He was an avid golfer. Russell was a member of the Hargrove Bible Baptist Church at De Quincy, LA and local 286 United Steel Workers. Russell was preceded in death by his parents. Russell is survived by his wife, Neta S. Lewis of Norfolk, NE; children: Russell Lewis and wife Marie of New Brighton, MN; Michael Lewis of St. Paul, MN; Kristi Crouch and husband J.D. of Greenwood, NE; Vickie Mullin and husband Randy of Ettrick, WI; step-children: David Brown and wife Susan of Panama City, FL; Michael Brown and wife Laurie of Minatare, NE and Lynda Brown of Omaha, NE; 3 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, David Lewis and wife Linda of Council Bluffs, IA; sister, Mary Jane Adams and husband Marvin of Emerson, IA; nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends. Funeral Service will be held Friday, November 12, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak, IA Rev. Fred Pilecki, Officiating Visitation with the family present on Thursday evening, November 11 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home A memorial is being established in Russell's name.
