Obituary

Ruth Edna Beeson, the daughter of Fred O. and Jeanette A. (Anderson) Robson was born August 16, 1920 in Grant Township of Montgomery County, Iowa. She passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Stanton Care Center, Stanton, Iowa at the age of 94 years, 4 months and 18 days. As a child, Ruth lived south of Red Oak until her family moved to Van Nuys, California where she attended Hazletine Avenue Elementary School. In 1934, the family returned to Red Oak and in 1938, Ruth graduated from Red Oak High School. Ruth was united in marriage to Byron Beeson on September 16, 1941 in Baltimore, Maryland. Byron was working at the Martin Defense Plant when he enlisted in the Navy during WW II. During this time, Ruth lived in Long Beach, California and worked at Douglas Aircraft. After the war, Ruth and Byron returned to Red Oak and began their lives as farmers and business entrepreneurs. Ruth filled the supporting role as a farm wife and bookkeeper for Beeson Distributing. She was a longtime member of the Red Oak Presbyterian Church and was active in the ladies' circles. Ruth was also a member of the 4 Square Neighborhood Club in addition to other bridge clubs. She was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed gardening, needlework, sewing, cooking and loved to read. Ruth and Byron loved to square dance, play bridge and travel in their RV. They enjoyed entertaining and welcomed many friends into their home for meals and fellowship. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Byron on December 3, 1986; and two sisters: Frances Roupe and her husband Wilbur and Viola Carolyn Holmes. Ruth is survived by her two children: Barbara Kenney and husband Bruce of Nevada, IA and Alan Beeson and wife Cindy of Red Oak, IA; four grandchildren: Elaine Axmear and husband Will of Nevada, IA, Mark Kenney and wife Julie of Ankeny, IA, Ryan Beeson and fiancée Samantha Thomas of Red Oak, IA, and Sarah Perrien and husband Nate of Red Oak, IA; nine great-grandchildren: Brooke and Olivia Axmear of Nevada, IA, Lauren and Landon Kenney of Ankeny, IA, Tyler and AJ Beeson of Red Oak, IA, and Nolan, Marlee and Mia Perrien of Red Oak, IA; brother-in-law, John Holmes of Perris, CA; nieces: Francine Roupe and Kaye (Cletus) Molacek both of CA; nephews, Richard Roupe, Gary (Jeannette) Legg and Kimm (Jill) Legg all of CA; other relatives and friends. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Memorial Graveside Service on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery. Family and Friends will meet at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home for procession to cemetery at 11:15 a.m. Reception and luncheon will follow services at the Red Oak Presbyterian Church 511 E. Coolbaugh St. Red Oak. Memorials to the Presbyterian Church of Red Oak, Iowa Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
