Ruth Elizabeth Marie Wallin, the daughter of George J. and Anna (Steltenpohl) Sunderman was born November 17, 1916 at Clarinda, Iowa. She passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Stanton Care Center, Stanton, Iowa at the age of 97 years, 4 months and 7 days. Ruth was raised on a farm near Clarinda. She graduated from parochial school and worked at AAA in Clarinda. Ruth was united in marriage to Raymond E. Wallin on March 14, 1941 in Stanton, Iowa. Since 1941, Ruth has made Stanton her home. After retirement, Ray and Ruth enjoyed many years wintering in Texas. She was an avid sports fan, loved to read, play cards, camp and travel. She was a fabulous cook and baker, as family loved her cookies and baked goods, along with her delicious fried chicken and potato salad. Ruth was a member of Mamrelund Lutheran Church, having served as Sunday School Treasurer for many years. She was also a member of the American Legion Ernie Johnson Post #406 Auxiliary, Senior Citizens and Birthday Club all of Stanton. Ruth loved and cherished her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond on January 14, 1989; son, Lamont Wallin; son-in-law, Eugene Fritscher and two brothers: Max and Don Sunderman. Ruth is survived by her two daughters: Janet Dinville and husband, Duane of Stanton, IA; and Jeanie Fritscher of Stanton, IA; 5 grandchildren: Sara Wallin of Omaha, NE; Sandra and Samantha Wallin of Waco, TX; Andrea Abel and husband, Greg of West Des Moines, IA; and Matthew Dinville and wife, Amy of Waukee, IA; 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, March 28, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Mamrelund Lutheran Church, Stanton, Iowa Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Mamre Cemetery, Stanton, Iowa Rev. Dr. Eric Kutzli, Officiating Visitation and viewing with the family present on Thursday evening, March 27 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home Memorials may be directed to Mamrelund Lutheran Church.
