Sandra Marie Gray, the daughter of Burnell and Helen (Gorski) Hopkinson, was born March 14, 1944, in Anderson, Indiana. She passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at her home following an extended illness at the age of 79 years, 3 months, and 27 days.

Sandra grew up and attended school in Anderson, Indiana. On September 9, 1960, Sandra was united in marriage to Jackie Liford, at Daleville, Indiana. In 1972, she moved to Iowa. On August 9, 1982, Sandra was married to Donald W. Gray, and in 1989, they made their home in Coburg, Iowa. Sandra was a registered nurse, beginning her career at Jennine Edmundson Hospital and Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She later became director of nursing at Elm Heights Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa. Sandra also worked a period of time with Red Oak Good Samaritan Society and Red Oak Rehab & Care Center. Full circle, Sandra retired from nursing at Jennie Edmundson Hospital. She enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, attending garage sales, trips to the casinos, and playing bingo. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald on the same date 16 years earlier; a brother and 2 sisters.

Sandra is survived by 5 children: Jack Liford and companion, Elsa Oceguera of Council Bluffs, IA, Mike Liford of Red Oak, IA, Charlie Liford of Villisca, IA, Teresa Liford and companion Brian Fudge of Branson, MO and Angela (Jim) Uhlmann, Jr. of Red Oak, IA; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and sister, Patricia Lifford of Anderson, IN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home, Red Oak, Iowa.

Visitation with the family will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to service time at 11:00 a.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home.

Burial will take place in the Silver City Cemetery, Silver City, IA.
