Obituary

Scott Brian King, the son of Lawrence T. and Phyllis A. Leed King was born July 15, 1972 in Atlantic, Iowa. He passed away from a sudden illness on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Scott passed at the age of 39 years, 4 months and 8 days. He was the proud father of Dakotah, Ciara and Noah King. Scott was very proud of his football career and contributions to athletics at Nishna Valley High School, where he graduated in 1992. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Scott loved to be outdoors, riding four wheelers and boating. He recently spent some time with his sister, Kristi in Columbus, Nebraska where he wore out everyone around him doing the things he loved. Scott left the Emerson area for a short while only to return to his home town to raise his family and continue to be an asset to the community. Scott worked in many areas such of the construction field and most recently followed in his father's footsteps, as an over the road truck driver. He was proud to acquire his commercial driver's license and never left without the company of his dogs. Although he loved driving, he enjoyed returning home to his family and friends more than anything in the world. Scott had a unique sense of humor and loved joking around with people. He had a rough exterior and his size often made people nervous but, once you got to know him, he was one of the most loyal and trusting friend a person could hope to have. Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arnold and Mildred King and his grandfather, Norman Leed. Survivors included his children: son, Dakotah; daughter, Ciara and son, Noah King; father and mother, Larry and Phyllis Leed King of Emerson, Iowa; grandmother, Shirley Leed of Griswold, Iowa; brother, Steven King and wife Dawn King of Emerson, Iowa and his son, Jonathan; sister, Kristi King and Mike Niemann of Columbus, Nebraska and their children Brad, Taylor, Zach and Corey; brother, Spencer King and wife Danielle King of Bucyrus, Ohio and his children Jessica, Andy, Alex and Skylar; along with many other relatives and friends. We would like to recognize the following people as honorary pallbearers: Dakotah and Noah King, Steven and Spencer King, Jonathan King, Andy King, Brad, Zach and Corey Niemann. We would like to thank all of Scott's classmates who graduated from Nishna Valley Community High School in 1992, all of whom were counted by Scott as his friends. The family wishes to express our gratitude to all the doctors, nurses and technicians at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Jennie Edmundson Hospital and University of Nebraska Medical Center who all did everything they could for Scott.
