Obituary

Sharon Lee Farlin, the daughter of Samuel L. and Jessie I. (Fail) Baker was born April 9, 1945 at Villisca, Iowa. She passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 68 years, 1 month and 27 days. Sharon attended country school near Tenville until the third grade when the family moved to Villisca, Iowa. She graduated from Villisca High School in l963. Sharon was united in marriage to Leo R. Farlin on March 27, 1965 in Red Oak, Iowa. They lived in Villisca and Creston. In 1981, Leo and Sharon made their home in Emerson, Iowa. Over her career, Sharon had worked for Union Carbide Battery Company in Red Oak, Bunn-O-Matic in Creston, and for D&L and then ROMECH in Red Oak, retiring in 2006. Sharon enjoyed sewing, crafting projects and relaxing at the casinos. Following her retirement, she enjoyed staying at home. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo R. Farlin on January 27, 2006; son, Joseph; three brothers: Albert, Donald, and Willis; sister, Dorothy and infant siblings. Sharon is survived by her son, Darrell Farlin of Emerson, IA; granddaughter, Ema Farlin of Syracuse, NE; sister, Evelyn Salway of Villisca, IA; sisters-in-law: Donna Baker of Villisca, IA; Jean Baker of Red Oak, IA; Mary DeYeager of Council Bluffs, IA; Joyce Anson of Brea, CA; Bonnie Wilson and Connie Gary of Mississippi; brothers-in-law: David Smith of Villisca, IA and George Peterson of Ft. Worth, TX; lifelong friend, Coral Guffey; many nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Private Graveside Service was held at the Arlington Cemetery, Villisca, IA A memorial is being established in Sharon's name. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
