Shirley Sue Grinstead, the daughter of Dallas and Dorothy (Quist) Veak was born October 13, 1964 at Red Oak, Iowa. She passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 54 years, 4 months and 26 days.

Shirley was raised on a farm north of Stanton until she was 11, when her parents moved into Red Oak. She graduated from Red Oak High School in 1982. Shirley was united in marriage to Perry Grinstead and even though they divorced, they remained good friends. Shirley enjoyed traveling, music, reading and loved all her dogs during her life. Shirley was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Red Oak.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Cheryl Young; and two brothers: Jon and Dean.

Shirley is survived by her son, Calvin Erickson of Red Oak, IA; brother-in-law, Steve Young; nieces and nephew; other relatives and friends.

Cremation has taken place and a private family burial will take place later in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak, IA.
