Obituary

Stephen Lee Fisher, the son of Donald and Wylma (Higgins) Fisher was born July 1, 1949, in Clarinda, Iowa. He passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at his home in rural Red Oak, Iowa, at the age of 72 years, 11 months and 11 days.

Steve was raised in Montgomery County, Iowa, until the family moved to Page County. He graduated from Villisca High School in 1967. Steve worked on the farm and then attended trade school. On June 7, 1969, Steve was united in marriage to Mary Abbey in Mt. Etna, Iowa, and after a few years, they made their home in the Red Oak area where Steve began a 47-year career (in the same building) as an auto mechanic. Over the years, Steve worked for Fox & Finley Chevrolet, Anderson Spiker Chevrolet, Don Hindmarsh Chevrolet and then R. K. Belt and Sons. Steve enjoyed keeping his hand in farming by helping his brother and parents-in-law on the weekends. Steve was also the caretaker of North Page Cemetery for 59 years. He was that guy who would always lend a helping hand to others.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law; sister-in-law, Ann Fisher and brother-in-law, Bruce Burr.

Steve is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Fisher of Red Oak, IA; daughter, Ange (Greg) Kinser of West Des Moines, IA; son, Dan (Brittany) Fisher of Ames, IA; 2 grandchildren: Gregory Kinser and Stella Fisher; brother, Gale Fisher of Villisca, IA; and sisters: Guila Burr of Clarinda, IA and Linda (Warren) Conner of Bella Vista, Arkansas; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

May God bless his memory and give strength to those who mourn.
