Obituary

Tacye Arlene Pedersen, the daughter of John W. and Edith I. (Ridlen) Wilson was born March 26, 1918 at Hastings, Iowa. She passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at her residence in Denison, Iowa at the age of 96 years and 4 months. Tacye was raised in the Hastings area and was baptized and confirmed at Wesley Chapel Church near Hastings. Tacye was united in marriage to Homer L. Pedersen on June 7, 1942 at Wesley Chapel. They farmed for a short time near North Bend, Nebraska. In 1951, they moved to the Council Bluffs, Iowa area. While in Council Bluffs, Tacye worked at a bakery, laundromat, and was a ward clerk at a hospital. In 1974, they moved to Ames, Iowa and in 1986, Tacye and Homer made their home in Red Oak, Iowa. She was a member of the Emerson First Baptist Church, National Audubon Society, Christian Women's Club and with many bible studies. Following her move to Denison in 2011, Tacye joined the First United Methodist Church. Tacye loved being outdoors, bird watching and even took a canoe and camping trip when she was 78 years old. She enjoyed traveling, especially on her trip to Switzerland. Tacye was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to music. She was a giving person, and a loving and supportive grandmother. Tacye was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Homer on July 30, 1988; four brothers and three sisters. Tacye is survived by four children: Patricia (Miriam) Pedersen of Santa Fe, NM; Eileen (Larry) Peterson of Denison, IA; Richard (Mari Beth) Pedersen of Battlefield, MO; and Eugene (Nita) Pedersen of Waukee, IA; 6 grandchildren: Jennifer (Mike) Muchlinski, John Peterson and fiancé Shawn Zamarippa, Krista Peterson, Elicia Pedersen, David (Caroline) Pedersen and Saren (Boris) Sudel; 6 great-grandchildren; and sister, Mrs. Beth Miller of Golden, CO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Funeral Service will be Friday, August 1, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Wesley Chapel Church, rural Hastings, Iowa Burial at Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Hastings, IA Rev. Carl Phillips, Officiating Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the funeral service (9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m) at Wesley Chapel Church. Memorials to Tools for Opportunity or Wesley Chapel Cemetery Bench Fund. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
