Obituary

Terry Lee Ungry, the son of Marion "Bud" Ungry and Bonnie (Abbott) Elkins was born May 22, 1952 in Red Oak, Iowa. He passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015 at the age of 62 years, 10 months and 12 days. Terry attended school at Emerson, Strahan and Nishna Valley, graduating in 1970 from Nishna Valley High School. He was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Emerson where he was a member. Terry was united in marriage to Mary Jo Bolton on June 16, 1973 in Emerson, Iowa. Throughout his career, Terry worked for Emerson Farm Supply, Bolton Standard Oil Company, Oakland Packing Plant, and Union Carbide/Eveready Battery Company, before starting his own construction company, "Construction Services", retiring in 2003. He was an excellent drywaller and detailed finisher with his projects, even teaching others the trade. Terry enjoyed attending and collecting items from antique and flea markets, fishing, wildlife, and woodworking. He loved to garden and yard art. His passion for produce gardening began with nurturing seeds to canning and freezing his annual crop that was enjoyed by family and friends. Terry was an animal lover and his dog, Rosa was very special. Terry was preceded in death by his father, Marion "Bud" Ungry; grandparents: Adam & Bonnie Abbott, and Vernon & Anna Ungry; aunt, Maxine Cochrane; parents-in-law, Gene and Emma (Kirlin) Bolton, and special friend, Joe Larsen. Terry is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Ungry of Emerson, IA; two sons: Aaron Ungry (Melissa Gallant) of Council Bluffs, IA and Jay (Liz) Ungry of Emerson, IA; two grandchildren: Lexi and Jason Ungry of Emerson, IA; parents, Arthur "Bud" & Bonnie Elkins of Emerson, IA; siblings: Joleen (Kirk) Elwood of Red Oak, IA, Tony (Joyce) Ungry of Bennett, CO, Tim (Lisa) Ungry of Satsuma, FL, and Becky (John Sims) Elkins of Dallas, TX; sister-in-law, Barb (Mike) Diers of Auburn, AL; brother-in-law, Monty (Mary) Bolton of Emerson, IA; along with nieces, nephews and a host of friends. May God bless his memory and give strength to those who mourn. Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Emerson, Iowa Rev. Jason Latta, Officiating Visitation with the family will be held Wednesday evening April 8 at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Family requests memorials in lieu of flowers. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
