Obituary

Terry Dean Weber, the son of Lawrence and Myrtle Johnson Weber was born on March 26, 1947 in Sioux City, Iowa. He died suddenly at his home in Red Oak, Iowa on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the age of 61 years and 17 days.

Terry was raised in Sioux City, where he graduated from Central High School. He continued his education graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Briar Cliff College in Sioux City. Terry loved baseball and excelled in the sport playing through high school and college. Following graduation from Briar Cliff College, Terry received his Masters Degree from the University of South Dakota and Specialist Degree in Education from the University of Nebraska, Kearney. Terry was united in marriage to Carole Dames on August 31, 1968 in Sioux City, IA. He served his country from l968 to l976 with the Air National Guard, as a Medic. Terry had a heart for kids and throughout his career served as educator, coach and principal. He began teaching and coaching in South Sioux City, NE. Following South Sioux City, Terry and Carole moved to Neligh, NE where they made their home for 18 years. Terry taught and coached, and the last 8 years in Neligh, was principal. In 1994, they moved to Red Oak when Terry was hired as high school principal. He was presently the Red Oak High School principal. Terry held educational memberships in the School Administrators of Iowa, and the National Association of Secondary Principals. He was also a member of the Red Oak Presbyterian Church and American Legion Post #172 of Neligh, NE. Terry was passionate about youth and sports and enjoyed coaching. In 1989 and 1990, Terry coached the Nebraska State Champion American Legion baseball teams. He was an intense fan of the Chicago Cubs and Nebraska Cornhusker football teams. Above all, Terry adored his family, who he loved and was so proud of. Terry was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Pat.

Terry is survived by his wife, Carole Weber of Red Oak, IA; children: Sean Weber of Omaha, NE; Damon Weber and wife Val of West Des Moines, IA; Cara Eckstein and husband Mike of Olathe, KS; and Kyle Weber of Red Oak, IA; three grandchildren: Griffin, Cameron and Camden; brother, Gary Weber of Sergeant Bluff, IA; sisters: Shirley Leyk and husband Dick of Council Bluffs, IA; Sharon Kann and husband Roger of Sioux City, IA; Judy Milner and husband Gary of Albuquerque, NM; and Janet Graves and husband Ernie of South Sioux City, NE; nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the Red Oak High School Auditorium

Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, Iowa on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 11:00 a.m.

Visitation with family present at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, April 15 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Family requests memorials in lieu of flowers to the American Diabetes Association or Terry Weber Memorial.
