Obituary

Thomas Kirby Hallcock, the son of Zearl and Loraine (Kirby) Hallcock was born June 8, 1936 in Elliott, Iowa. He passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 8 days.

Tom was raised in Elliott and graduated from Elliott High School in l954. He entered the U.S. Air Force on July 14, 1958 and was honorable discharged on May 22, 1962. Tom attended mortuary school and moved to Oakland, California in the late l960's and owned a funeral home until 1976 and worked for various automotive dealerships until he moved back to Elliott in 1993. He had worked part-time with Hy-Vee in the meat department for a few years. Tom was a member of United Church of Hope in Elliott. Tom was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was elected a Worthy Patron in 1974.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Thomas Hallcock; a brother, Bill Hallcock and sister, Bernadene Post.

Tom is survived by a daughter, Kimberley Hallcock of Elliott, IA and sons: Scott Hallcock of Corinth, MS and Geoffrey Hallcock of Laurens, IA, granddaughter, Cheryl Hallcock and three great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Private Family graveside service will take place at a later date at the Omaha National Cemetery, Omaha, Nebraska.

Memorials maybe directed to United Church of Hope in Elliott or the Elliott Food Pantry.
