Thomas Lee Knapp, the son of Lee and Virginia (Carlson) Knapp was born April 5, 1948 at Red Oak, Iowa. He passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 66 years, 11 months and 10 day. Tom was raised and spent his life in Red Oak. He was united in marriage to Gail Gillette on October 15, 1976 at Red Oak, Iowa. Tom worked for Askloff Phillips "66" and then was an electrician and mechanic at Union Carbide and Traco. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge Aerie #2715, having served as Secretary and President. He also helped the lodge with maintenance and put his cooking skills to work. Tom enjoyed playing his guitar in a band, camping, cooking and spending time with family. Lately, Tom enjoyed feeding the birds and bird watching. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Mitchell Knapp; sister, Susan Gerdts and niece, Angela Gerdts. Tom is survived by his wife, Gail Knapp of Red Oak, IA; children: Thomas Knapp Jr. of North Carolina; Jody Knapp and wife Terri of Villisca, IA; Stacy Wiater and husband Rick of Villisca, IA; Scooter Sharp Jr. and wife Patty of Garner, NC; Jeff Knapp and fiancé Cecily McCuen of Villisca, IA; 12 grandchildren: Laura, Michael, Mariah, Jess, Blake, Ricky, Peyton, Preston, Brendan, Marshall, Gage and Jade; other relatives and a host of friends. Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge, Red Oak, IA Family requests memorials in lieu of flowers in Tom's name.
