Thomas Franklin Schenck, the son of Kenneth and Marjorie (Sederburg) Schenck, was born March 21, 1945, at Red Oak, Iowa. He passed away from natural causes on Monday, February 24, 2025, at his home in Stanton, Iowa, at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 3 days.

Tom was raised in Stanton, Iowa. He loved baseball and was a great player in his younger years.  Following graduation from Stanton High School, Tom entered the U.S. Air Force on September 12, 1963, and served until he was honorably discharged on September 6, 1967. After returning home, Tom attended college at the University of Nebraska Omaha and shortly after, attended meat cutting school. On August 30, 1969, Tom was united in marriage to Susan Erickson in Red Oak, Iowa, and to this union three children were born. Tom owned and operated many meat counters in southwest Iowa including Stanton, Red Oak and Clarinda. In 1982, Tom and Susan bought a cabin in Okoboji, Iowa, and they treasured their time at the lake relaxing on the deck. They also enjoyed going to outdoor concerts at Arnold's Park, eating at area restaurants, fishing, boating and spending time with their children and grandchildren making wonderful memories. Tom and Susan also loved going on road trips together and seeing our beautiful country. Although he retired in 2007, Tom was still making his Swedish Bologna to enjoy during the holiday season for longtime customers, friends and family. He was an Elvis Presley fan and loved watching old movies, but Tom especially loved watching his grandkids play sports, he was so proud of them all. Tom was a member of Mamrelund Lutheran Church, Stanton. He was full of personality and loved his hometown of Stanton and the people living there. Tom was always sharing smiles with all those he met and passed by.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carolyn Durkin, and brother-in-law, Bruce Coulman.

Tom is survived by his wife, Susan Schenck of Stanton, IA; two sons: Jeff (Lori) Schenck of Elkhorn, NE and Nick (Amber) Schenck of Adel, IA; daughter, Becky (Brent) Jensen of Louisville, NE; 8 grandchildren: Cooper, KJ, Landon, Dawson, Koleman, Evelyn, Brock, and Blake; brother, Robert (Tasha) Schenck of Stanton, IA; two sisters: Joanie (Dean) Burke of Stanton, IA and Mary Coulman of Willowbrook, IL; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; other relatives and many friends.
