Obituary

Vida Maxine Durst, the daughter of Henry and Clara Baumert Sheets was born March 26, 1919 in Washington County, Iowa. She died on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 91 years, 9 months and 13 days. Maxine was raised in Washington County, Iowa and graduated from Keota High School in l936. She was united in marriage to Glenn L. Durst on August 14, 1943 at Washington, Iowa. Maxine and Glenn lived in Washington, Creston and Des Moines, Iowa before moving to Red Oak in l955. While in Red Oak, Maxine had worked in the cafeteria for the Red Oak Community High School. Maxine enjoyed sewing, embroidery, and cooking for her family. The most important part of her life was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death her parents; husband: Glenn L. Durst on April 2, l997; 3 brothers; 2 sisters; and son-in-law: Wayne Walford. Maxine is survived by five children: Roberta ""Bert"" Walford of Red Oak, IA; Kathy Collins and husband Mike of Lake City, IA; Carole Hutchinson of Missouri Valley, IA; Diana Durst of Omaha, NE; Jim Durst and wife Sloane of Blue Springs, MO; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends. Graveside Service will be held Monday, January 10, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak. Rev. Caryn Pedersen, Officiating Memorials to the Red Oak Fire & Rescue Association Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
