Valerie Jean Carmona, the daughter of Earl C. and Frances J. (Taylor) White was born February 9, 1951 in Malvern, Iowa. She passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Red Oak Healthcare Community, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 62 years, 7 months and 9 days. Valerie was raised in the Malvern, Iowa area. She later lived in Shenandoah, Iowa and for many years in Essex, Iowa. Valarie was married to Lonnie Carmona in 1974. In 1991, they made their home in Red Oak. Valerie worked the past 14 years for the Red Oak Community School District in the food service program at the Middle School and later at Inman Primary. She enjoyed working in her yard and flower garden, and fishing. Her dog, Buttons held a special place in her heart. Valerie was preceded in death by her mother and sister, Sharon Larimore. Valerie is survived by her husband, Lonnie Carmona of Red Oak, IA; two daughters: Tammy Nicholas and husband Wesley of Essex, IA, and Cinda Garrison and husband Albert of Reeds, MO; five grandchildren: Chelsey and Helen Nicholas, Tyler Hall, Madison and Tad Garrison; great-granddaughter, Trish Garrison; father, Earl C. White and wife Carmen of Carthage, MO; and sisters: Diana Impson of Carthage, MO, Cheryl Estes of Alba, MO, Nancy Estes of Carthage, MO and Vicky Kirkpatrick of Carthage, MO; other relatives and friends. Graveside Service will be held Monday, September 23, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak Viewing and Visitation will be on Monday, September 23, 2013 beginning at 1:30 p.m. until leaving for procession to the cemetery. A memorial is being established in Valerie's name. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
