Vera Annice Bullington, the daughter of Earl and Lillian (Erdman) Sowers was born October 7, 1920 at Henderson, Iowa. She passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the Lighthouse Long Term Care Center, Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 95 years, 10 months and 13 days.
Vera was raised in Henderson, Iowa. She attended school in Henderson, and following graduation worked for a short period as a housekeeper. Vera was united in marriage to Elvin F. Bullington at Tarkio, Missouri, and they made their home near Climax in West Township of Montgomery County, Iowa. Vera was a hard working farmwife, helping with all aspects of chores and farming. She was very involved with her children, especially helping them with their 4-H projects, as her family and farm was very important to her. Vera also worked a few years as a cook at the Coburg School. She enjoyed growing a garden, cooking and reading. In the early 1980's, Vera and Elvin retired from farming and made their home in Red Oak. The past five years, Vera has lived in Omaha, Nebraska.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elvin on October 6, 1983; infant son, Larry; two brothers: Merrill Sowers and Edger Sowers; and grandson, Curtis.
Vera is survived by five children: Lanny Sellers and wife Ramona of Red Oak, IA, Deanna Tighe of Boulder, CO, Stanley Bullington of Red Oak, IA, Linda Battaglia and husband Jack of Montrose, CO and Nancy Porter and husband Chuck of Omaha, NE; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.
At Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak, IA
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home by 12:45 PM for procession to the cemetery.
